A REGION 8's Child's Wish Gets Granted
Jonesboro,
AR (KAIT)- A Region 8 school grants the wish of a five-year-old boy.
Thanks to the Discovery Island Learning
Center, Jackson Shephard of Paragould is going to Walt Disney World.
Teachers, students and families spent a year raising
the money needed to grant a wish.
While the school has been involved with Make A Wish a number of years, they say this
is the first year they've been able to actually grant a wish!
This was something they wanted to do not only to help
someone else, but to teacher their students a valuable lesson.
Pre-kindergarten Director Kimberly James, "We've
had several teachers that have actually been involved in granting a wish and they we're telling us what a wonderful experience
it was. We thought it would be a great experience for our children to help others."
A couple of the many things
they did to raise money were penny drives, and selling hearts and stars for the Make A Wish Radio-a-Thon.
Those involved
with the project say seeing the smile on his face was worth all their hard work!
Jackson and his family leave this Saturday
for a 7-day trip to Disney World and other amusements.
