WELCOME
Thank you for your interest in Discovery Island. We understand that choosing a child care center can be a stressful decision. We want to make make that decision easier by completely informing you on what you can expect from Discovery Island.
CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
Our classrooms are safe and stimulating places from which children feel free to explore the world around them. Each classroom is equipped with an array of toys to stimulate all areas of development. Restrooms are located in or very near each classroom for convenience and to make toilet training self-care routines an integral part of each child's day. Each classroom is staffed with 1 highly trained morning teacher from 7:00-2:00, and then with an energetic afternoon teacher from 2:00-5:30 daily. Explorer classrooms may have up to 5 children, Toddler classrooms may have up to 8 children, Preschool and Pre-K 3 may have up to 12 children, and Pre-K 4 may have up to 15 children.
Daily Schedule
While daily schedules will vary from class to class, each classroom will experience the following activities daily in a way consistent with their level of development:

For a child to reach his or her full potential we believe it is vital that our teachers communicate daily with parents. Toddlers will have a daily report sheet to take home each afternoon that details the activities they enjoyed, explains how well they ate and slept, and documents each diaper change or toilet use. Older students will have a weekly report form in their cubbies that is updated daily at naptime. It will have information about ongoing activities, learning objectives, and details about food intake and rest. We also utilize a program called OneCall Now to send out phone and text alerts, reminders, and news. Inclement weather and emergency notifications will also be sent via this method. Our teachers and directors are always available for conferences and questions.
Hours of Operation
Discovery Island is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. We are open year round with the exception of:

Curriculum
Discovery Island believes in learning through an interactive, hands-on curriculum. Our Toddler & Preschool programs learn through intentional play and our Pre-K 3 & Pre-K 4 programs use the Sing, Spell, Read, & Write curriculum. More information about our curriculum can be found here.
